People Like Us, Inc. was founded by a group of four women who decided over a round of golf to make a difference and raise money to fight breast cancer. As each of their lives has been personally touched by breast cancer, they decided to band together to create a golf event where they would make a difference in fighting this disease.

Early in 2004 they incorporated as a non-profit and held three amazing events – all a tremendous success – raising a significant amount of money for Massachusetts women and families dealing with breast cancer.

In the fall of 2009, with the blessing of the founding members, six friends equally dedicated to fighting Breast Cancer took the reigns of the organization.  We pledge to carry on the legacy started by the founding members and to continue the battle against Breast Cancer with the same passion and determination.  On August 7-8, 2010, PLU hosted the First annual “Compete for a Cure”  Women’s Softball Tournament in Taunton, MA; raising over $12,000 for Making Strides.

Striving to be a community leader in making a difference in the lives of those affected by Breast Cancer through donations to research, education and direct services to families and patients.

Proceeds for the 2012 “Compete for a Cure” Women’s Softball Tournament will benefit the “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk” in Boston sponsored by the American Cancer Society as well as other services PLU, Inc. provides directly to families in need.
